The language used in this pocket guide is intentionally informal. It s meant to be easy to understand and have the feel of a senior fellow teaching you the basic how-tos of retina surgery. You ll notice the first-person plural we used often throughout this book. I have written the majority of the text in this book but I use we because each of the contributing authors (all of whom are experts in the field of retina surgery) have helped in formulating this book. The authors of this primer carry a combined 93 years of vitreoretinal surgical experience while having trained at institutions including Bascom Palmer Eye Institute the University of Iowa Wills Eye Hospital and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
