In this book African American literature is illuminated through a project-based curriculum that incorporates national curriculum standards. Each chapter identifies areas in which instructional attention is most needed to help students develop a greater appreciation for diversity perseverance and ethnicity. Examples and ideas for activities are offered to reinforce related concepts. With this book teachers and librarians will be better able to motivate and inform helping students discover the richness of African American culture now and through time.
